Robotics
I AM Robot - IAM's robotics team is "the varsity sport for the mind" as described by the FIRST Robotics Competition. Students need to adhere to the rules of the competition with limited rescources to fundraise, brand, design, build, and work together as a team to create a robot that competes against others from area high schools in field competitions. Being on the team promotes:
- Learning engineering from professionals
- Building and competing with robots
- Learning and using sophisticated software and hardware
- Competing and collaboration in alliances and tournaments
- Building interpersonal skills
Meeting Schedule
In the Fall, the team (or smaller groups) meet every week, typically Tuesday's are 6 pm.
Build season begins in January. The build schedule is tentatively set for Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 5-9, and Saturday 9-2. Times and dates will likely be extended as the season progresses, including some Sundays. The build site has not been determined for this season.

Fundraising/Corporate Sponsorship
A successful season requires at least $20,000, and our goal is to reach $50,000. Therefore, we will have several fundraisers throughout the year. They include the list below, but please feel free to contact us with other ideas.
Fall - cookie dough fundraiser last year, but a different one would be better. We need someone to be in charge of a fall fundraiser.
Fall - Bowling fundraiser - December 3, 2017 at Alley 59 in Clinton Twp.
- Bring your friends, have fun and support the team!
- Registration begins at 12:30 pm, bowling begins at 1 pm.
- Cost is $20/person for 3 games of bowling, shoes and unlimited pop and pizza.
- You must pre-register for the event by Nov. 27th. See the links below for the flyer and registration forms.
April 2017 - flower sale
We also accept monetary donations from families, friends, and companies. A donation package handout will be available soon to take to companies when asking for donations. Checks should be written to the International Academy of Macomb, clearly labeled for the robotics team and brought to Ms. Deitman in the main office.
Community Service
Community service is a major component of the FIRST program. We will have at least 2 community service events this year, and all students are required to particpate in at least 1 off-site event. Below are scheduled and possible events.
Saturday October 28th 1:00-3:30 - Help at Gleaners in Warren
December - collect socks (or other items) for MISD to give to homeless
Another event TBD - present robot at elementary schools is a possibility.
