How do I become a member?

In order to become a member, you need to be invited.  Once you receive your letter, you may complete the Candidate Packet.

Once you have submitted the packet, the Faculty Council reviews your candidacy and accepts or denies your membership.

 What are the requirements once I become a member?

Once you are a member, you need to complete the following:

4 hours of tutoring per semester;

4 hours of chapter activity service per semester;

4 hours of individual community service per semester;

Participate in at least one chapter service project;

Attend all chapter meetings.

Not all hours need to be completed after school.  You will have opportunities to complete your 4 hours of chapter activity service during school hours.

 Remember, participating in your community not only makes you an IB Learner, but it may also make you desirable to certain universities.  If you are unsure or are uneasy about finding ways to help, check out these resources .  

 How do NHS community service hours relate to my IB CAS hours?

Firstly, it is your responsibility to coordinate your CAS hours.  However, IB has approved that NHS hours can be used for CAS hours (or vice versa) as long as you are meeting the requirements.  Furthermore, if you complete NHS community service hours, you need to be sure that you are meetings the requirements of CAS.
